FAQ
How can I get in contact with the Legal Director?
You can telephone or e-mail- see the contact page on this website. We will answer your query immediately if you have a serious legal matter which you need to deal with as a matter of urgency.
How soon can I arrange a meeting with the Legal Director?
We aim to meet our business clients at a time and location convenient to them. If urgent we can meet with you on the day you contact us, however, we usually meet new clients within 7 days of them making contact. We like to meet face to face with our business clients because the success of our service is based on the strength of the relationships we build with them.
How much do you charge?
We charge by the hour or by the day but can also agree fixed fees to match our clients needs. Our hourly rate is about 50% of what you would expect to pay for a lawyer with the same level of qualification and experience operating out of a London commercial practise.
Where are you based?
We are based in South West London but advise clients anywhere in the UK or overseas.
Where do you provide your services?
We take advantage of technology and advise using e-mail telephone and the internet. We also tend to make ourselves available to attend meetings at our clients offices which gives us the opportunity to get a feel for the culture and attitudes of our clients and gives us the opportunity to meet the senior management teams of our clients and build strong relationships.
How do you provide your services?
As stated above we advise face to face, by e-mail or on the telephone.
Will you work with clients anywhere in the UK?
Yes, we see geography as no barrier and will work with any business wherever they are located.
How many lawyers do you have?
At the moment we have a team of 4 senior lawyers including the founder and MD John Burchill.
What industries do you commonly work in?
We have advised clients across many industry sectors including, financial services, engineering, insurance, retail, food, cosmetics, IT and communications. We see our expertise as being easily transferrable across almost any industry sector.
Can you advise on international matters?
Yes, we have experience of working in most continents but including Europe, Middle East, Far East and America. This work involves us taking a key role on behalf of our clients but always involves us working with local lawyers who specialise in legal matters in the jurisdictions where our clients operate.
Why are you different to a law firm?
We work with our business clients as though we are part of their permanent team. We take responsibility for the strategic management of their legal affairs but do not pretend to operate as specialists in any one particular area of law. We get close to our clients and advise them when they need to appoint a law firm and who to appoint but do not aim to replicate the services that a law firm would commonly provide. We aim to partner with our business clients as counsellors and advisers- we just happen to be lawyers at the same time!
What size of business do you commonly advise?
We advise any business from start ups to large publicly quoted companies. However, the size of business that would commonly find our services most attractive would be in the range of £5 million to £100 million t/o i.e. a business with susbstantial legal issues but without a permanent in-house legal resource.
How can I become part of The Legal Director team?
If you are interested in joining our team which is innovative in the field of legal services provision please get in touch. We are interested in meeting lawyers with experience and/or in-house legal experience- see the contacts page.
