Services

What can you expect from The Legal Director ?

The Legal Director will bring legal expertise and business knowledge to ensure that your business brings focus to its legal affairs.

We are experienced lawyers and therefore know what to look for when advising our clients on any legal matter. However, our service is different to the service you get from your firm of solicitors.

We provide our advice from the ‘inside’ of your business and this requires much greater emphasis to be given to ‘Relationships’ and ‘Communication’.

We won’t always provide the final answer to your legal questions but we know what questions to ask, how to ask them and where to get the answers from.

As far as relationships are concerned we

(1) get close to the key people in your business, work with them at your place of business and look to adapt to your businesses culture and methods of work as quickly as possible

(2) always promote positive relationships between you and your suppliers and other service providers and

(3) introduce you to good quality law firms and bring you closer to the law firms you use.

As far as communications are concerned we

(1) identify your legal issues clearly and concisely and explain our recommendations in plain simple language so as to aid understanding.

(2) look to propose straightforward solutions which will be aimed at facilitating your commercial objectives

(3) strengthen the communication links between you and your external law firms by preparing better instructions for them to work to and by providing informed interpretation and evaluation of the legal advice received from them.

We are good at these roles and believe they are key to you managing your legal affairs more efficiently.

The Process

Working with your business can involve any of the following:

  • A full assessment of your legal issues and risk - Legal Audit
  • One Off Legal Advice on individual projects or issues
  • A Regular Flexible Legal Advice and support service - weekly/monthly/quarterly
  • Analysis of your use of and relationships with External Law Firms
  • Review of your external Legal Spend

The options set out here can involve any of the following: regular attendance at your offices, attendance at meetings as and when required, advice through e-mail and use of the internet and telephone support.

The Benefits

1. Your director who was previously responsible for legal issues will be released to concentrate on his core activity which saves your business valuable time.

2. Your use of external solicitors becomes more efficient – we stop you involving your external solicitors too early in the process i.e. the Stage 1 process and bring them in only at the right time.

3. We know how to prepare a set of instructions that will obtain the best legal advice and we work with your external solicitors monitoring their input and assessing their cost. Again this saves your business valuable time but also saves you money.

4. Where we recommend the use of external solicitors you benefit from our extensive knowledge and experience of the legal marketplace resulting in a quality solicitor being appointed to provide the specialist legal advice your business needs.
