At The Legal Director, we are proud to champion women.
Our director, Kirstie Penk, is a fantastic role model, passionate about giving other women the opportunities they need and deserve to contribute meaningfully at work and away from it.
The law has traditionally been an industry that equates excessively long hours with success and promotion – a hurdle that has typically been harder for women to overcome than men. Client Legal Director, Joanna Alexander, shows how the TLD service model has enabled her to thrive: “I’ve been able to have a busy and fulfilling career at TLD since my youngest was 15 months old. I’ve been able to flexibly work around my children’s schedules and increase my workload as they have got older.”
And Amanda Mallender points out how important it is to have other women alongside you, visible and part of the dialogue: “I like the fact that I’m working in a firm where the majority of the consultants are women at a similar stage of life as me. It means we have a lot of shared experience to draw on in terms of how to approach matters.”
Change doesn’t happen if the status quo isn’t disrupted. Let’s continue to challenge the suggestion that the traditional ways of working are the best and give opportunities for everyone to succeed.
