Legal Audit

“Charlie [Strickland] carried out our TLD Legal Audit – his report gave us the confidence that the majority of our legal matters are under control and a very clear and pragmatic idea of the areas where we could improve. What’s more, we now have a trusted adviser who knows the ins and outs of our complex business and does not need to get up to speed every time we call.

Why get a TLD Legal Audit?

A legal audit image showing a magnifying glass to demonstrate compliance

We offer two levels of legal audit which will help you:

  • Gain a better understanding of your business’s legal affairs;

  • Assess your business’s existing legal risks;

  • Identify any changes that need to take place to reflect your company strategy or protect your business;

  • Introduce positive measures that will give your business stronger foundations for growth and future success; and

  • Get you ready for due diligence that will be required if you are planning an investment in, or sale of, your business.

How does it work?

We will have a call with you to get an overview of your business, your key relationships and commercial objectives. Together we will assess if a Basic Legal Audit or a Comprehensive legal audit is what you need.

Basic or Comprehensive Audit?

What’s covered?

Our Comprehensive Legal Audit covers each of these eight key areas. The Basic Legal Audit covers three of these areas.

What you get…

Armed with this information, we will:

  • Analyse the status of your legal affairs.
  • Prepare a Legal Audit report for you.
  • Recommend required actions – highlighting any areas where urgent action is required.

This is ideal for smaller businesses and organisations whose legal affairs are already partly managed (externally or internally).

We send you a short questionnaire to complete and ask you to supply us with copies of your key contracts and other relevant documents relating to relationships with other organisations/third parties.

We would expect this whole process to take approximately two hours of your time.

  • It depends how readily available your documentation is, but a relatively organised business should be able to answer the questionnaire and pull the information required together in 1.5 hours.
  • There would then be a 30-minute phone call with us.
  • Fixed fee – £2K + VAT.

This is recommended if you are a larger organisation, have multiple business relationships, or have concerns over the state of your legal affairs.

We would have a 30 minute conversation with you to assess which of the management team is best placed to answer questions on the various areas of the business. We would then send a tailored questionnaire to each of them about their area, booking in separate sessions (meetings in person or online) to gather their answers.

This will require more than two hours of time, but the time would be split between the members of the management team who have responsibility for the various areas of the business selected.

  • The amount of time this takes is dependent upon how many areas we are covering, the number of people we need to speak to, and the amount of information collated. The cost of this will be a fixed fee – which we will agree at the outset.
