Phil comes to us with a wealth of valuable financial services, general insurance regulatory, and governance management experience. He spent over 20 years at Domestic & General, joining as Company Secretary to establish their first Group Legal Function. He went on to successfully build and develop a high-performing team of lawyers, running the function as its Group Legal Director and steering the business through significant periods of change.
More recently, he has enjoyed getting hands on, consulting for over a year for one of Asia’s fastest growing insuretechs, Bolttech Group, driving their successful mobile phone aftercare launch plans in six Nordic countries for a large, global phone manufacturer.
In addition to his financial services experience, he has a particular interest and expertise in IT & technology contracts and enjoys supporting businesses with IT Services onboarding, IT builds and software development. He has a strong track record of protecting his business’s interests and cites making a multi-million pound recovery on a failed systems installation as one of his most satisfying career achievements.
Phil always approaches his work with positivity and energy and loves the cut and thrust of building a long-term client relationship agreement that factors in all the co-dependencies to make it work. His clients value his expertise at developing relationships with regulators and his ability to marry precision and technical knowledge with commercial, business-oriented solutions. Phil joined TLD looking to change the way he worked. Keen to interact with senior business executives and leaders directly, he wanted to move away from managing a large team and work alongside his clients to support them to realise their goals and implement their strategy. TLD afforded him the opportunity to have more independence and control over how and where he works, as well as being an attractive solution for the future when he may be looking to flex down his legal work. Phil is looking forward to building his own business with the security and support of the wider TLD team and we are excited to see him make a success of it.
