Sophie is an intellectual property and commercial contract expert with extensive experience across a wide range of sectors including the media, cosmetics and entertainment industries and the creative arts. After gaining experience in-house and in private practice she has, for the past 15 years, run her own consultancy helping her clients, large and small, to understand and realise the full potential of their IP assets and core business contracts. She is particularly interested in entrepreneurial businesses and start-ups and cites taking a business from concept to global distribution as one of the greatest achievements of her career.
She loves working with creative people of all types and enjoys being part of a team. Sophie is always thoroughly invested in her clients’ success, and they appreciate her commitment, experience and adaptability. Indeed, 90% of her clients came from personal recommendations. Though relaxed and informal with the people she supports, she is thorough, has great eye for detail and is fearless in negotiation, particularly where there is an imbalance in the size of parties. A current client, The Personal Managers’ Association, says, “Sophie is a wonder to work with combining expert knowledge with practical application, and utter commitment to the cause.”.
Having flown solo for such a long time, Sophie joined TLD for extra support and training opportunities and to work with like-minded people. She identifies with TLD’s ethos and shares their commitment to client focus. Her extensive IP knowledge is a great asset to the team, and she is looking forward to being a source of support in this area for her own clients and for her colleagues’ clients. She is also excited about the variety inherent in general counsel work and keen to use her considerable commercial expertise for the benefit of companies in growth.
