On a glorious autumn day, 25 of our TLD team met up in Hertfordshire for the quarterly meeting – our first overnight retreat – which we hope will become an annual event. This was the first time in over a year and a half that many had seen their colleagues in person, and everyone welcomed the opportunity to catch up and reconnect.
The day kicked off with an outdoor activity named ‘Crystal Mazed’. Based on the popular TV format, the game saw teams competing in a series of problem-solving challenges against the clock to win time in the crystal dome finale. With many competitive players, it was a hard-fought and close-run battle, but any rivalry was put aside in the evening when the team enjoyed socialising over drinks and dinner.
Growth and Development
Day two provided an opportunity for CEO, Ed Simpson to consider TLD’s growth and development in 2021 and to reflect on what we’ve learned from the pandemic. Beyond the mechanics of running a business and delivering exceptional service, it showed just how important a role team connections and communication play in building a successful business.
This segued neatly into a brilliant session with Cath Bishop and Ian Braid based around her recent book, ‘The Long Win’, exploring what success looks like for us both individually and as a team. Identifying our personal values and priorities plays an important part in defining success – beyond the numbers – building motivation, commitment and a true feeling of fulfilment.
